Digital Egregore

with Maurice Wald, Felix Ansmann, Lucy Rolbin

Egregore (from Ancient Greek ἐγρήγορος, egrēgoros ‚wakeful‘) is an occult concept representing a distinct nonphysical entity that arises from a collective group of people. The Digital Egregore is an experiment of creating rituals for the manifestation of collective avatars that a group of people can speak and act through in virtual space mapping out rather an abstract symbol for the group than a repesentative collage of „features“ of the group’s members.  Creation of the avatar happens with the use a phone through a collective quija-inspired game ritual to allow for ambiguity and alterity.
